Sometimes Hollywood in its attempt to impress the audience worldwide goes overboard. Packing movies with stars is overkill. Really.

In the following seven movies, ranging from romantic comedies to crime comedies, an illusion is created that either 1) in the worlds depicted everyone is a famous Hollywood actor, or 2) we know these actors like our family members, so we can relate to them faster. Whether this hypothesis has any merit or not, fact is that an increasingly popular trend in the movie business is to engage already familiar actors, and to create star-studded cast lists.

Valentine’s Day (11 Stars)

Valentine’s Day came out in 2010, and eleven largely popular names can be counted in the movie cast. In alphabetical order these are: Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Gardner, Topher Grace (That 70’s Show), Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, and Queen Latifah.

He’s Just Not That Into You (10 Stars)

2009 graced us with another star-packed flick – He’s Just Not That Into You. Struggling to find or keep love were the following cinema celebrities: Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Ginnifer Goodwin, Morgan Lily, Justin Long, and Scarlett Johansson.

Love Actually (11 Stars)

Love Actually, released in 2003, starred Rowan Atkinson, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Denise Richards, Claudia Schiffer, Emma Thompson, and Billy Bob Thornton (as the U.S. president).

Couples Retreat (7 Stars)

Couples Retreat was released in 2009. The very concept of the movie is hysterical - beautiful beaches that the couples can not enjoy because they have to work out their issues. Seven household names braved up and showed off beach bodies as part of the cast: Malin Akerman, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis, Jon Favreau, Jean Reno, and Vince Vaughn.

Ocean’s Eleven (11 Stars)

This epic movie from 2001 about ten accomplices planning to rob three Las Vegas casinos concurrently boasts A-listers like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Robers, Bernie Mac, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Eliott Gould, and Carl Reiner.

Ocean’s Twelve (12 Stars)

Three years later Daniel Ocean (George Clooney) adds one more team member to his band for a European operation. The star cast includes all the familiar faces from Ocean’s Eleven, plus the beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Ocean’s Thirteen (11 Stars)

Three more years later, in 2007, the cast returns without Julia Roberts and Catherine-Zeta Jones. In their place we have gained an Al Pacino, therefore ending at 11 stellar actors as our count. Will there be an Ocean’s Fourteen?
